Step 3 of 7

Uploading Plans & Documents

The AI can only answer questions about documents it has access to. Uploading your files is the most important step before using the question-answering feature.

Step-by-step guide

  1. 1

    Open the Manage Files page

There are two ways to get there. The first is by clicking the Manage Files button on the project homepage. The second is via the project menu in the top-left corner — click the project name, select Manage Project, then open the Files tab.

  2. 2

    Upload your files

Click the Upload New button to add files to the project. AskThePlans can work with plans, drawings, certificates, design documents, engineering drawings, specifications, approvals, and other project files. The more relevant documents you upload, the more context AskThePlans has to provide accurate, project-specific answers.

  3. 3

    Monitor processing status

When a new file is uploaded, its processing status and progress are displayed next to the file name. After uploading, it may take a few minutes for the file to be fully processed and become available to AskThePlans. You can start asking questions while files are still processing — answers will improve as more stages complete.

  4. 4

    Manage your files

Each file has a menu icon (paperclip) next to it. Click it to access file management options: Preview the document, Rename it, Download a copy, or Delete it from the project.

  5. 5

    Review and correct page classifications

Click View Pages from the file menu to see how AskThePlans has analysed and classified each page of the document. Here you can see all pages along with the classification assigned by AskThePlans. If a classification is incorrect, click it to change it — accurate classifications help AskThePlans better understand your documents and improve the quality of its responses.
